About God Shift Era

Founded by Nelani Botma, God Shift Era was born from a deep passion for children and a heart for meaningful, preventative change. Nelani began her journey in 2018, volunteering at safe houses for children and working alongside an anti-human trafficking organisation. Seeing the impact of trauma on young lives, she set out to support her hometown of Hermanus by focusing on prevention rather than just intervention.

God Shift Era was established with a clear purpose: not just to address problems, but to prevent them. The organisation focuses on supporting children who have been removed from their homes by providing counselling and emotional care, helping them build resilience and create a future filled with possibility. At its core is the belief that early intervention can break cycles—preventing outcomes such as life on the streets or repeated patterns of generational hardship.

Over time, the vision expanded to include family healing. Today, God Shift Era works not only with children, but also with parents and caregivers, offering trauma counselling and guidance to strengthen family bonds. By equipping parents with the tools to nurture and connect with their children, the organisation helps build healthier, more stable home environments.

In addition, initiatives such as clothing pop-up shops and the distribution of essential items aim to restore dignity and empower families in need. By allowing individuals to choose their own clothing and receive support in a respectful, uplifting way, God Shift Era fosters a sense of pride and hope.

God Shift Era exists to equip individuals with strength, restore dignity, and inspire lasting change—laying the foundation for a better, more hopeful future for generations to come.
